A
traditional yet modern Souq with a distinctive Arabic
flavor. Designed by Halcrow, it opened in 1987 and has
50 shops. It is maintained by the Municipality.
Enclosed and cooled by air-conditioning, it is
remarkable for its modern and traditional Islamic
architecture and worth a visit for its golden dome
showing the galaxy. Note the finely chiseled
wrought-iron lamps.
Inside you will find a variety of shops offering
clothes, shoes, perfumes and textiles. This Souq is
quite popular with local shoppers.
Look for the Amiri stores that has a very nice
selection of textiles, Nina Ricci and Versace silk
scarves.
