Founded in 1997, SWC is the ninth Higher College of
Technology established to serve the educational needs
of the young women of Sharjah and neighboring
Emirates.
Our beautiful campus is located in University City, a
complex of five post-secondary educational
institutions that includes the American University of
Sharjah, the Women’s University of Sharjah, the Men’s
University of Sharjah, and two Higher Colleges of
Technology. University City, a creation of His
Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi,
Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, will also
include a world-class library, an Olympic-size sports
complex, and a theater. Our students will have access
to all these excellent facilities.
Everything we do at SWC is governed by the vision of
His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mubarak Al Nahayan,
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research
and Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology.
This vision is based on three key goals: excellence,
innovation, and self-determination. For all of us at
the College, this means a commitment to the highest
standards of teaching and learning, to the provision
of relevant programs that meet the needs of our
community, and to the development of personal
confidence and leadership skills among our students.
At SWC, our students learn skills and knowledge that
prepare them for the future. Their minds are opened to
new ideas and experiences. They learn with excellent
teachers; teachers who have come from all over the
world and who are dedicated to helping them achieve
their personal and professional goals. It is our hope
also that, at SWC, students will make good friends
that will last them a lifetime.
