Under the patronage of HE Sheikh Nahyan
bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Sharjah Men's College, the
tenth and newest member of the HCT system started
operations on February 7, 1998. Since that time,
student numbers have risen from 120 to almost 800
students.
The
College is located in the magnificent University City,
a short drive from the city center of Sharjah, and
students are drawn from Sharjah, Fujairah, Ajman and
Umm Al Quwain.
Students choose between a variety of programs in
Business, Information Technology, and Technology for
the following qualifications:
. Certificate (2 years duration)
. Diploma (3 years duration)
. Higher Diploma (4 years duration)
. Continuing Education programs are also available
for students. Please see the SMC website for more
information regarding the wide variety of programs
being offered by the Continuing Education department.
All programs are taught in English and include work
experience as an essential component of each program.
The College has excellent teaching, learning and
recreational facilities. There are 15 classrooms, 10
computer labs and 5 Engineering labs and workshops.
19 more classrooms and labs are under construction for
September 2002. Our Library and Learning Center is
well equipped with print and non-computer based print
materials and access to computers for internet
research and projects.
Students and staff have access to a superb Sports
Center with:
. a multi-purpose hall
. 2 squash courts
. a fully equipped gymnasium
. an Olympic sized swimming pool
. An outdoor, floodlit, grass football pitch
Our graduates are employed in governmental and private
sector workplaces and employers have been universal in
their praise of HCT-SMC graduates’ skills, knowledge,
and work ethic.
