Sharjah has
been a major Middle East tourist Destination since
1932!
Tourists intending to visit Sharjah do not have to go
far to get what they are
interested in. That's why Sharjah was the first
emirate to attract tourist groups in 1980. Since then,
tourism has developed in leaps and bounds.
Hotels and
Furnished Apartments
in Sharjah offer a wide range of facilities and
services for business travelers, destinations,
tourists and for those passing through. In the city
the beach resort hotels are mainly located along Al
Khan beach. On the East Coast the Ocean Hotel offers
beachfront accommodation in Khor Fakkan. The city
hotels are dotted around Sharjah, on the Buhairah
Corniche and towards Ajman. The main hotel guests are
split between tourists from Europe who come for the
sunny winter months and Arab tourists from the other
Gulf countries who come for holiday breaks with
families, to shop and visit Sharjah and the
neighboring emirates.
The number of tourists entering Sharjah and the UAE in
general in 1981 was about 4,000. However Sharjah has
developed and so have its tourist attractions. Today
the number of tourists visiting the emirate has
reached 250,000.
Since 1997 Sharjah and Tourism Development Authority
has been working to develop and promote tourism in
Sharjah. This has been possible following the
mobilization of all available facilities and services,
be it airlines, travel agents and other authorities
concerned.
In addition, Sharjah paid special attention to its
recreational facilities like hotels, bazaars, parks,
restaurants and the attractions of the Emirate are
being spread between the two gulfs in the east and
west.
The civility of the people of Sharjah and the high
standard of its tourist facilities makes it highly
attractive to tourists who appreciate the safety and
security of the emirate and its free economy.
Property in the UAE can only be owned by UAE or GCC
national and all expatriates have to rent. There are
many real estate agencies in Sharjah, who are always
keen to assist you. Rents are lower than those in
Dubai and vary tremendously depending on location,
services and facilities, finish, age, amenities,
parking, owner’s policy and the general condition of
the market.
