Established in 1976, the German School Sharjah is a
German Foreign School officially supported by the
Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
-
The aim of the German School, Sharjah is to offer
German and German speaking children an education
based on the German curriculum and to make the
transition to the school system in Germany as easy
as possible for returning children. Furthermore,
because we begin English lessons in the 1st grade,
children can later be transferred to British
schools.

German culture and tradition play an important role
at the German School, Sharjah, and most of the
typical German festivities are celebrated during the
school terms.

Approximately 25 minutes by car to Dubai.

School area measures upto about 1.5 hectares,
tropical trees and plants on the area giving the
school an exotic and attractive appearance.

Big sports ground and swimming pool are integrated
in this area.

Special school bus service provides transportation
for the children in the morning and after school.

Annual school term runs from September to June. In
the present school term (1999), there is a
Kindergarten (from age 3), the Primary School (from
grades 1 to 4) and the Secondary School (from grade
5 to 8) increasing from now every year by one grade.

Foreign languages are taught at an earlier stage
compared to Germany. Arabic and English from Grade
1, French from Grade 5. Apart from the compulsory
subjects, computer classes are also offered.

Extracurricular activities include extra classes in
German, English, Mathematics, home work observation
at school by teachers, special classes in Arts,
Music and French as well as sports activities like
swimming and outdoor tennis.

The school also offers German language courses at
different levels to children from other
International schools, adults and members of other
institutions.
