The Best Promotional Material Award EMITT 2007

Turkey Istanbul
The Emirate of Sharjah's target of enticing 5,000 tourists from Turkey in 2007 could well be exceeded after making a deep impression at the East Mediterranean International Travel & Tourism Exhibition (EMITT 2007) in Istanbul .
A number of positives were realized throughout EMITT 2007 for the SCTDA, including a series of high-profile interviews with top Turkish newspapers and television stations, along with winning the Best Promotional Material Award, for its comprehensive and entertaining range of information paraphernalia documenting the attractions of Sharjah.

The Sharjah delegation, headed by Director General of Sharjah Commerce & Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), H. E. Mohamed A. Al Noman, in addition to other senior representatives from SCTDA, Sharjah International Airport Authority and Air Arabia, has returned to the UAE convinced that its fourth successive appearance at EMITT was more successful than ever before.

EMITT, widely considered one of the most important events within the global tourism industry, this year saw more than 200,000 visitors over the four-day period - with thousands flocking to the giant Sharjah pavilion at the front of Hall Two. More than 2000 exhibitors from 55 countries took part, along with tourism ministries from 50 countries, ensuring that the Emirate of Sharjah gained crucial exposure to a number of growing markets and thus was able to strike a number of new business deals.

Featuring 11,000 stands from a multitude of participants from around the globe, ITB Berlin attracts a large gathering of international media and acts as one of the focal points for the world's tourism and business sectors every year.

Subdivided into 10 categories, Sharjah had secured this award in the Middle East grouping upon the evaluation of the Cologne Business School's research, study and assessment made during the period of the exhibition - judging the design of the stand and taking into account creativity, promotional and informative materials, activities provided , Personnel and Services . Sharjah's positive entry not only won them the position but also attracted more than 20 thousand visitors.


Best stand design award in Beijing International Tourism Expo 2007

In a successful end to activities at the Beijing International Tourism Expo, the Emirate of Sharjah won the best stand design amongst more Click to Enlargethan 800 participating stands from different countries. Theawards were handedat a large ceremony attended by the Director General of the Chinese TourismAuthority, the General Organizer of theExhibition, top officials, other exhibitorsand international media. Representatives of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority received the award of being the best participant stand in the exhibition.

The award is considered to be amongst the most important, and is based on various research and studies, and the opinion of the organizing committee in coordination with the Chinese Tourism Authority. The exhibition stand of Emirate of Sharjah was able to impress through its unique design and attracted thousands of visitors and media.
