The American University of Sharjah (AUS) is a non-profit, independent, coeducational institution of higher education developed on the American model in affiliation with the American University, Washington, D.C. It was established and is funded by His Highness, Shaikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University.
The 375 acre (1,518,000 meters squared) University City Campus is located 10 miles (15 kilometers) from the center of Sharjah and is a short distance from both the Sharjah International and the Dubai International Airports. Architecturally distinguished facilities were designed to accommodate 4,000 undergraduate students.
